Ellie Goulding’s show at the 9:30 Club was an invite-only affair, sponsored by Nike to celebrate the next day’s Half Marathon, in which Goulding ran. The show started early (6 pm), there was no opening act, the women’s room had fresh flowers in it, staff walked through the club passing out free snacks...and it was all done by 8pm, so that Robyn Hitchcock and Peter Buck could play a regular Saturday night set.
